 Mel Hieatt– Camulodunum Nanny

mel hieattI first became a Nanny at 18 when I went to work in a Live-in position, for 4 children under 5, for family friends in Gloucestershire. This determined my love for Under 5’s and after having my own Children I decided to train as an Early Years teacher and Early Language Lead. After 16 years in the PVI Early Years sector, I took a sabbatical and returned to Nannying once more in 2019 and fell in love with it, all over again. Whilst my passion for Early Childhood has always been present, my interest and involvement with children on the Autistic Spectrum and with ADHD stems from the birth of my own children.

My eldest son was born in 1996 and by the time he was 2 , I was very aware he had developmental and behavioural differences from other children of the same age. It took until he was 6, constantly fighting and advocating for him, whilst being made to attend numerous parenting courses; that he finally got a diagnosis of severe ADHD. My consequent two children also have ADHD and ASD and my middle son also has learning differences. After 28 years as a parent, having to navigate daily life, the education system, becoming a single parent and then an Early Years teacher;

I have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge of living with ASD/ADHD. I founded a Facebook Support Group ADHD Kids UK in 2007, which now has 16.5K followers. As a Nanny I work on a daily basis with families with children and parents on the Autistic Spectrum; supporting and encouraging them and sharing practical advice from my own journey, wherever I can. ”

Kirsty Bennett – Moonrise Maternity

Kirsty Bennett

I am an experienced Newborn Care Specialist and have been supporting new families with their babies for over a decade. I work predominately as a Night Nanny because I know first hand how hard sleep deprivation can be. It is my joy to provide parents with meaningful respite. By providing overnight care, parents have the chance to feel rejuvenated and replenished. The labour of love that is caring for a newborn is much more enjoyable when you are not pouring from an empty cup.

I am passionate about providing quality care to my clients, and invest much of my personal time researching and studying infant feeding and holistic sleep strategies that optimise infant sleep without leaving babies to cry. This ensures my clients receive up-to-date, evidence-based information when they are making decisions about their families. It also means that you can trust your baby is being properly cared for while you sleep.

My main areas of professional expertise are Breastfeeding Support and Gentle Sleep Coaching. I have an avid interest in supporting families experiencing issues with Colic and Reflux, and many of my clients are families of twins.

I trained as a Maternity Nurse in London through accredited childcare course provider Babyem in 2014, who provided me with the knowledge and tools to deliver the best possible experience of early parenthood to the families I work with. My training has enabled me to exercise an “Attachment Parenting” approach to my work, where babies are held and responded to. I am currently authoring my first book, which explores why and how babies are designed to be held and responded to from a biological, evolutionary and neurological standpoint

Sammy Davies –  Happy Heart First Aid

Sammy DaviesHi, I’m Sammy – a former nurse and nurse educator, now a first aid trainer, business owner, and proud mum of three. I believe learning first aid should be fear-free and empowering and promise you will leave feeling confident, calm, and capable.

Being a parent or Nanny can feel pretty overwhelming at times. There is so much information out there. You might be sleep deprived, preoccupied with your new bundle of love, and it is hard to know what to follow and trust. This is where I can help.

I use my nursing experience, my love of research, and my passion for teaching to replace your fears with first aid facts. As a mum of three young children, I understand the worries parents have, and believe that knowledge is power.

Rachel Strachan – Nanny Coach and Reiki Master

Rachel Stratton

I’m a Mindset & Life Coach helping people break free from self-sabotage, build unshakable confidence, and finally create a life they love.

I know what it’s like to feel lost, stuck, and like you’re just going through the motions. I’ve been through my own tough and traumatic times—life-altering experiences that cracked me open and forced me to rebuild from the inside out. That’s why I do this work. Because I understand, deeply.

I work with individuals who feel disconnected from themselves, burnt out from people-pleasing, and tired of living behind a mask. If you’re craving change but don’t know where to start, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

My coaching blends powerful mindset work with holistic healing practices. As a Reiki Master and Sound Healing Practitioner, I support transformation on all levels—mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual. Together, we clear the blocks that are holding you back and reconnect you with who you truly are.

We invite you to join us at The Great British Nanny Conference 2025 to learn from these exceptional speakers. To connect with fellow nannies from across the UK and beyond. We are confident that this conference will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration you need to excel as a professional nanny.
